You’re one of my 6! I don’t normally send emails like this, but coronavirus is calling for passionate leaders to think outside the box and take action.  I care deeply about kids, mental health, and wild places – and I am excited to assist a nonprofit I don’t want to see die as a result of this pandemic.  Acting as a team, the 6 of us can make sure it doesn’t happen.      

GOALS (“Get Outside and Learn Something”) Youth River Expeditions exists to build crucial connections for kids through wilderness river expeditions.  It is possible that they’ll be forced to cancel some or all of their 2020 summer programs.  As a result, the kids who are now experiencing a greater sense of the very social isolation that GOALS expeditions are designed to overcome may not have the chance to connect and grow.    

For the past 10 years, GOALS has always invested any money raised above their operational costs directly back into the kids they serve.  What could have been used to create an emergency fund has instead been distributed as financial aid – ensuring that every interested child/family could participate in their powerful expeditions. 

We must take action – now.  On the backside of this pandemic, kids will need GOALS more than ever.  I was invited to be part of a creative philanthropic plan that will give GOALS the aid they now need.  It’s based on many making small individual sacrifices to protect something bigger.  Sound familiar?
