Thank you for your interest in a 2019 GOALS river expedition. We appreciate you providing the information requested, which will be used only to determine if the person applying is good fit for one of our programs that has space available.
Background. We receive hundreds of applications each season from students throughout Colorado, and even the country. Since access to the river canyons where our programs occur is very limited, our permit availability is not able to match the demand for our expeditions.
We have identified specific personal traits that create optimal individual and group growth. When selecting applicants, our main objective is to maximize the impact for every child we serve. It is our intent through this application to create groups composed of kids who will not only receive the most out of their own GOALS experience, but whose presence will also enhance the expedition for their peers. Please answer each question honestly, as there are no “right” or “wrong” responses - other than those which don’t most accurately represent the authentic applicant.
We would like to include every interested child, and while there are always difficult decisions surrounding applicants, we hope those who do not receive a spot on a 2019 expedition will recognize that such a decision indicates only an improper fit for a specific expedition - not an identification of character flaws.
